Community Development through Social Entrepreneurship (CODE-SE)
Project Completed with Outstanding Results
The “Community Development through Social Entrepreneurship (CODE-SE)” project (2015-2017), implemented by ICIRLD, IZ, KASA, CCI, and ASEA with the support of the European Commission, has been successfully completed, bringing exemplary results for Armenia’s social entrepreneurship ecosystem.
The project has significantly contributed to sustainable community development across seven regions of Armenia, empowering civil society organizations to generate income through social enterprises.
Through a robust incubation program, the first wave of exemplary social enterprises was established in Armenia. Participants benefited from an integrated educational journey that included face-to-face trainings, an online learning platform, and personalized consultancy.
Key achievements included:
- Comprehensive regional needs assessment
- Blended training curriculum combining face-to-face and e-learning methods
- Social entrepreneurship startup modules for 60 shortlisted CSO representatives
- Core training and incubation of 27 selected participants
- Tailored consultancy services in legal, marketing, financial, and business development
- Successful crowdfunding campaigns with a focus on diaspora engagement
- Seed funding provided to 10 high-potential social enterprises (in average €7,000)
- Launch of a dedicated incubation support system
- A final conference fostering collaboration and launching long-term incubation services for new stakeholders
The CODE-SE project not only created impact through capacity-building and funding but also laid the foundation for a broader and sustainable ecosystem of social entrepreneurship in Armenia.
